Weekend Love: The Royal Blue Wedding

Hello! My apologies for the 2 week absence without any prior notice. I was completely under the weather and also swamped with work, both still ongoing... On top of that I just took part in a wedding as a bridesmaid right here in Singapore. It was a beautiful day and an exciting one with bridesmaid duties different from the ones I experienced in Denmark and US weddings.

I helped out the couple in the only way I know. Yup, by DIY-ing an original money box for their royal blue wedding. The only request was to create something simple so I topped it off with a giant bow :)

This was so much easier than the diamond money box for my own wedding!

Weekend Love: Bon Voyage

One of my closest friends in Singapore just moved to London so we had a sendoff party over the weekend. As a surprise gift, I prepared a custom photo album through the Photobook Singapore. Their photobook designer software is super user-friendly!! It took hours to do the layout with over 100 photos to include but I'm pretty proud of it and the book turned out really cute ;)

It's always sad to say goodbye but as this print from 1612DesignandPhoto says, there's so much to be grateful for.

Give your friend a hug!

The Engagement Party DIY

My friend recently asked me to be the maid-of-honor for her wedding in August!! and while this is super exciting in itself, wait 'til you hear where the wedding is taking place. It's in Copenhagen!! I never imagined myself attending a wedding in Denmark, let alone being a part of one!!! Since we can't really help prepare for the actual wedding, the bridesmaids decided to throw a surprise engagement party. Of course I had to DIY some special party decorations because this bride-to-be deserves nothing but the best!!

The party banner was a must but we customized the common "She Said Yes!" by adding the bride's name. I used silver paper to cut the letters out of so they they will sparkle in the dim bar where we held the party.

The table centerpiece is my original paper flowers which are super easy to make. I printed papers in different shades of pink and purple rather than using colored paper. This way I can get just the right colors and add gradations to give a more romantic feel.  Cut the paper in petal shapes, around 10-15 pieces per flower. Start with one petal and wrap the others around it while holding the bottom.  I just stapled the bottom together at the end since it wont be visible when placed on the table.

Finally, my personal favorite, the cake topper is a giant diamond ring made possible by the template offered on the amazing minieco blog.

and there's the happy couple :)

DIY Christmas Yarn Tree

My 2012 Christmas tree is finally up :) This year I was inspired by a project from Rogerseller I introduced previously.  Hope you like it more than last year's!

All I purchased for this project was 2 balls of yarn from Daiso. That's a grand total of $4 dollars!

First step is to create the triangular tree frame for the yarn to be strung.  I used thumb tacks instead of nails to minimize the damage on my wall.  Then just string away~.  It was my first time stringing but I didn't plan too much and just had fun with it.  Theres no one right way of doing it so everyone will have different results, and thats the beauty of it :)

I planned to make pompoms for ornaments but I stopped half way through the process. I realized the roundness of the uncut pompom balls look very cute.

And the yarns will rolled up again and reused for another project after Christmas :)

DIY for the Weekend Market

In efforts to clear out my overstuffed closet, I'm participating in the weekend flea market tomorrow, 15 September at the *Scape in Orchard.  It will be from 2pm to 8pm. Here's a little DIY price tag clips I made to add a cute touch to our shop. For those of you in Singapore please come by!!!

1. Create and print a sheet of rectangular price tags (with bright colors and a cute font!) that match the size of your laundry pins.

2. Cut out the printed price tags.  I got a pack of 36 laundry pins from daiso )

3. Paste the paper on the laundry pins (I used spray glue from elmers).  That's all!!

DIY Geo Magnets

Here are some geometric magnets I made using polymer clay. They're really cute and super easy to make!

Here's the how-to: Take a chunk of polymer clay in the color of your choice and roll it up into a ball. Shave away corners with a razor blade until you find that perfect shape (make sure one side is big enough for the magnet). After baking the clay, glue a magnet on the back and you're done!  I bought a set of round magnets at daiso :)

Japan Earthquake, 1 year later

This coming Sunday marks the one year anniversary of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami.  It doesn't take an anniversary for many of us to be reminded.  I think about it all the time.  We've been hearing news of progress like the clean up of debris and the completion of the temporary housing by Shigeru Ban, yet there's so much more to be done.

This gif is inspired by the Paper Cranes for Japan project which I just learned about. Even the smallest things can collectively become a great force.  Let's continue sending love and support so the survivors can rebuild their lives and homes, day by day and piece by piece.

My Design: Coming Soon

I decided to create a jewelry line based on my love for colors and geometric shapes.  I've been busy working in my studio and here's a sneak peak.  I can't wait for the official kick off of my online shop.
