Poster Cool as Ice Cream

August is already coming to an end and I guess it's time to snap out of the summer holiday mode. It's pretty hard when it's 30 degrees all year round here in Singapore. Let's end my favorite season with probably the cutest 3-D poster you have ever seen.  It's an ice cream ad designed for Kibon where the bottom of the poster rolls up to form a waffle corn :) mmmm... so simple yet so clever.

Polka dotted pillow

I would be so happy if I could wake up on a lazy sunday to these neon accented bedlinens from Castle.  My favorite is definitely the fluro polka dotted pillowcases!

かみぐ

Here's a very special online shop from Japan.  Kamigu specializes in all things paper and they carry the most fascinating products made of paper.

This is one of my favorites. It's a fold-it-yourself paper name card case.

Instant Skyline

This is such a cute idea! Cecily Vessey has placed her illustrations of famous landmarks on sticky tape so we can create the signature New York, London and Paris skyline anywhere.

The New York skyline sticky tape includes the Brooklyn Bridge, Staten Island Ferry, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Flatiron Building, New Museum, Madison Square Gardens, Plaza Hotel, Guggenheim Museum, Met Museum and Shea Stadium!

The art of writing

Handwriting is definitely not my forte...it's probably one of my weaknesses as a designer. So, I'm always impressed by people like Heidi Sørensen who can produce such amazing calligraphy.  The video is so fascinating that I can't stop watching it.  Her hand is like a machine!!

Paper Neighborhood

I'm thinking this set of stamps, the Paper Neighborhood will be a cute gift for one of my architect friends :)

"PAPER NEIGHBORHOOD is a set of 21 vulcanized rubber stamps, each depicting a single characteristic of Italianate-style architecture. This style was common in the late 19th century and can still be found in historic neighborhoods such as Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati, Ohio."

Post-it Pinata

This is such a great idea! A diy Pinata made by just pasting post-its on a box! I will definitely remember this for my future kids' birthday parties. The full instructions are available on the amazing Brooklyn Bride blog.

Lego Love

One of the best memories from my childhood is the hours and hours of Lego building with my brother. I think we got the most mileage out of Lego compared to any toys we've ever owned.  So it's no wonder they are celebrating their 80th anniversary. You can watch this sweet animation video and see how it all began, including the origin of the name.

Kids need to step away from their iPhones and iPads and play with Lego!!

Sofitel So Bangkok

If I had to choose one thing to recommend from my Bangkok trip, it will definitely be the hotel.  Sofitel So Bangkok is still in it's soft opening but I'm sooo happy I chose to stay here. Love the interior, love the service and love the food!  They even gave me an upgrade with a big cake waiting in the room for my birthday.  The different design of the guestrooms are inspired by the five elements; Water, Earth, Wood, Metal and Fire.  I stayed in the Wood theme room, and I miss it already!

Hello, it's me!

Hi everyone! Today is the last day of my 20s so I decided to make this a special post where I share a bit more about myself. Ringology has been all about 'creativity' and 'design' for the past 2 years and I tried not to post personal things unless they are related to these topics. So here's a list of some random facts on me!  I love my blog and I love my readers' support even more so I hope you can feel like we're friends after reading this!... also hope that you keep checking Ringology :)

1    I was born in Tokyo, full Japanese, but spent almost half of my life living overseas. Well, 14 out of the 30 years so far. 3 years in Hawaii, 7 years in Los Angeles and now 4 years in Singapore and counting.

2    Majority of the posts are in English but I am fluent in Japanese. Really. 漢字は苦手です。

I've loved to travel since I was young. As a kid, I never asked for a dog because I knew that I wouldn't get to travel as much if I had one. The love for travelling was probably influence from my ex-flight attendant mom.

4    My best friends live in Tokyo, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Brazil and Shanghai. That sounds pretty cool but this is one thing that SUCKS. I miss them everyday.

5    I have an architecture degree from USC. I love being a Trojan.

6    I work at an architecture firm. I don't get the Monday blues and  I enjoy working with my colleagues.  I guess this is one of the biggest blessings in your adult life.

7    I got married last year to Marcus, he's a Singaporean. I'm a dreamer and he's a realist.  He's an anchor to my life and it's allowed me to put down my roots and settle for once.  Sometime I pull him in my boat and we go on adventures.

8    My all time favorite foods are prawns and Japanese strawberries, especially あまおう. My current addiction is almond stuffed olives.

9    I love tea and it's pretty much all I drink. I can't drink soda and I've had two sips of coke my entire life, both times by accident.

10   I love to laugh. My brother hates watching anything funny with me because I laugh too loud.  漫才大好き~! できれば24時間お笑いだけのテレビがほしい。

11   I don't do cucumbers, shiitake mushrooms, milk, whipped cream, coffee, scary movies, guys who ask what kind of music you like in the first conversation, cats, moss green.

12   I am an excellent bowler. That's one thing I will not be humble about.

 13   That's me!

See you all in my 30s
