my design: small office

here's an office I recently help to set up in Singapore.  it's for a couple of guys starting out on their own so the budget was very low and the space was limited.  but i managed to create a simple, clean space well below their budget.

I even painted....

FrancFranc

FrancFranc is definitely my favorite place to shop in Japan. they have everything you need to spruce up any space.  I can spend hours at the store just looking at their products. only if they had FrancFranc in Singapore!

heres some FrancFranc items from my home!

I learned from a former buyer of FrancFranc that it will be very difficult to open a Singapore branch for the lack of market and interest here. Japanese people, including myself, will spend extra money to get a 'cuter' product.  we do come from the land of Hello Kitty.  for example.... a bathroom mat, you can buy a very basic one for a good price, but i wouldn't mind spending much more if i can find a cool design in a color i like.  on the other hand, I think Singaporeans are much more practical and the cost will be a priority for many.  As a designer, I truly believe that surrounding yourself with creative/ well designed products as well as colors you like can really enhance your life, even if a tiny bit. I hope my blog can create some interest so one day  FrancFranc can branch out to Singapore!

cake bakin' made easy by Muji!

I bake a cake for my boyfriend's birthday every year.  This year, i went for the chestnut cream cake.  It really adds a special touch to the special day, even though it only took one hour and Muji made things so easy.

It also seems like a lot of the self bake/ cook items in the Muji Singapore stores are always on sale... maybe because not many people cook at home?  I like their food packets too.  Very easy to make and very tasty. and no worries, they attach an english version of the recipe.

i decorated my cake to look like a soccer ball :)

fresh flowers

i just bought these flowers while grocery shopping at cold storage.  i've never been the type to buy fresh cut flowers since they only last so long, but i will admit they really bring a fresh breath of life in to your room.  and it only cost me $3.60!  i think i'm gonna make a habit of keeping fresh flowers in the house. I also found these water beads at daiso to use in the vase instead of regular water. it helps the flowers to last longer.

my make-up box

If i had to pick just one item out of my make-up box to use for the rest or my life, i would definitely  choose my eyeliner. I've been using the liquid liner from Shiseido's Majolica x Majorca for years now and its the best thing ever created.

I've seen them at most cosmetic shops in Singapore and they are not that expensive.  highly recommended.

bring me luck

i recently visited a crystal shop run by my friends at the Fortune Centre to see if i can find something to bring us luck.  i didn't want to just place regular rocks around my room but i came across these rose quartz carved into mini lotus flowers.  they are only as big as your thumb. a very cute addition to my room.  rose quartz are the stone of universal love!  if they can enhance your room and maybe your life, why not!

a day at the national museum

i love visiting the national museum singapore. except i always wait a long time before the next exciting exhibit comes to town.  i often find the large artwork in the atrium space much more intriguing than the main exhibits.  so some weekends i just stroll around to enjoy this and the space and sit for some tea and cupcakes at the novus cafe.
